The course aims to strengthen safe, person-centred medication practice and help learners identify risks, respond appropriately to changes or discrepancies, maintain reliable records and work effectively with prescribers, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.
The course covers advanced medication practice within care homes and comparable adult social care settings in England. It addresses medicines reconciliation, complex administration, high-risk medicines, controlled drugs, PRN medicines, covert administration, medication review, incident management and quality assurance.
Completion does not authorise a learner to prescribe, alter, crush, discontinue or administer medicines beyond their professional scope, assessed competence, workplace policy or formal delegation.
